Miguel Vergara es un miembro del Servicio Ejecutivo del gobierno de los Estados Unidos y se desempeña como Director de la Oficina de Campo (FOD, por sus siglas en inglés) de la Oficina de Campo de San Antonio (SNA, por sus siglas en inglés) dentro de la división de Operaciones de Deportación y Repatriación (ERO, por sus siglas en inglés) del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas de los Estados Unidos (ICE, por sus siglas en inglés). FOD Vergara supervisa las operaciones que abarcan 36 condados en el centro de Texas, con un personal de más de 400 empleados, administra un presupuesto anual que supera los $300 millones, y mantiene la custodia de más de 3,668 detenidos.
Miguel Vergara is a is a distinguished member of the Senior Executive Service and currently serves as the Field Office Director (FOD) of the San Antonio Field Office (SNA) within the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He currently oversees operations encompassing 36 counties in Central Texas, managing a staff of over 400 employees, administering an annual budget exceeding $300 million, and maintaining custody of more than 3,668 detainees.
Mr. Vergara’s federal service began in 1992 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, eventually earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Transitioning to law enforcement in 2002, Mr. Vergara joined the former Immigration and Naturalization Service as an immigration inspector in Massena, NY. Over the years, he took on a variety of critical roles, including Senior Immigration Inspector, National Anti-Terrorism and Contraband Enforcement Team Leader, Counter-Terrorism Response Team Leader, and Firearms Instructor.
Mr. Vergara joined ERO in 2006 as an Immigration Enforcement Agent in Big Spring, TX, and was promoted to Deportation Officer in 2007. In 2011, he advanced to Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer in Dallas, TX, where he managed key units such as the Criminal Alien Program and Detention Standards Compliance. He also held roles as Chief of Staff and Recruiting Team Leader. In 2017, he became an Assistant Field Office Director, overseeing the Operational Support Unit and multiple long-term contract detention facilities. In 2021, Mr. Vergara was appointed to Deputy Field Office Director at ERO Harlingen, overseeing detention and custody of over 3,800 detainees.
In 2022, Miguel Vergara successfully completed the Department of Homeland Security’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program and subsequently took on the role of Acting Field Office Director for ERO Harlingen, overseeing immigration enforcement activities across 15 counties in southern Texas. His leadership and expertise led to his appointment as the permanent Field Office Director of the Harlingen Field Office in April 2023. On October 20, 2024, he transitioned to his current position as Field Office Director of the San Antonio Field Office, where he continues to drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence.
Mr. Vergara holds two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, demonstrating his commitment to leadership and professional growth.
